The name PewDiePie has been seen on the top or near the top of every list of YouTube’s top earner in the past decade. This year he was ranked 9th on the list of the Highest Paid Youtubers list with his 15.5 million dollars from YouTube earnings.

29 years old Swede native has built a massive empire of his on YouTube that makes so much money that it can make anyone jealous of him. As of December 2018, the total number of followers of PewDiePie on various social media accounts is as follows.

• 16.1 million followers on Twitter
• 75 million YouTube subscribers
• 14.7 million Instagram followers

His main channel features PewDiePie himself playing the latest and coolest video games in the world while giving out the funny documentary long the way. While you might say that this is rather absurd for a 25 years old to do so, kids of today really love it. Until today, his YouTube videos have accumulated a total view count of 19 billion.

The real name of PewDiePie is Felix Kjellberg who was born back on October 1989 in Guttenberg, Sweden. After completing his high school education, he went to Chalmers University of Technology from where he did his major in Industrial Economics and Technology.

In his university days, he was more devoted to playing games and taking his game play to whole another level than focusing on his sophomore year. Back in 2010, he decided to share his passion wt the world and start his own YouTube channel about gaming videos. The idea behind his channel was simple. He would review the games in his videos by playing them thoroughly and the viewers could judge the game from his review as to if the game is genuinely entertaining or not.

He quickly got the attention of the teenage gamer rather quickly all thanks to his yell at screams, jump around and calling out obscenities. While many of the gaming channels at that time focused solely on game play, Kjellberg was dishing out a unique review to his viewer by plying these games.

Not only did he gained popularity due t his personality and game playing but also due to his choice of video games. He mainly reviews independent titles of the Horror and Action genre.

Due to his latest trend in game paling, game designing companies have also shifted their designing trend to make games that are not only fun to play but also fun to watch while others play. This was back in 2011 and he was still not making enough money to live off it, so he was selling hotdogs on a stand.

In 2012, he finally got his big break when Maker Studios head about the success of his channel and he was signed by them. He very quickly climbed to the most prominent figure of his company’s online sector. His popularity and his influence started to make its scope in the late 2013. By November of 2013, his YouTube channel had more than 13 million subscribers. After only one month of that, that number expanded to a massive 19 million subscribers.

Like many of the other well-known YouTube stars, PewDiePie’s success has also been riffed with controversies. In Feb of 2017, PewDiePie lost the opportunity for his own YouTube Red Show after it was found that some of his videos contain Anti-Semantic references. PewDiePie justified these videos by saying that he was only highlighting the fact that people will do anything to make money no matter how inappropriate or shocking tasks are given to them. His most obvious examples for this thought was to pay two guys on Fiver 5 dollars each for holding a sign with words written “Death to all Jews”.

His other major controversial video was posted back on September 10th, 2017 where he was seen using the “N-Word” during his live stream. The video was for the “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” where he was clearly heard saying the following words, “”What a f—ing ni—r! Jeez! Oh my god! What the f—? Sorry, but what the f—?”

He also previously had multi-million dollars with Disney for launching his own network. However due to all these controversies, the deal from both YouTube and Disney cut off their ties with him. Since then, his staunch supporters and advertisers have returned back. He is now charging 450,000 dollars for one sponsored video.

Back in 2013, PewDiePie was the highest paid YouTuber in the world when he earned 12 million dollars. In 2014, he earned about 14 million dollars. In 2015, he made a mere 9 million dollars but he was back in action in 2016 when he earned 16 million dollars. In 2017, due to controversies, his earnings saw a decline and earned abut 12 million dollars. Now with the end of 2018 approaching, he is reported to have earned about 30 million dollars this year.
